Edradour Arrives at Club Mareva Beirut: Scotland’s Little Gem Joins Our Whisky Collection

Club Mareva Beirut is proud to welcome Edradour to our whisky collection, bringing one of Scotland’s most distinctive traditional distilleries to our shelves.

For us, adding a whisky brand is never simply about adding more bottles. We look for producers with identity, history and a genuine commitment to their craft. Edradour represents all three.

Scotland’s Little Gem

Hidden in the heart of Perthshire near Pitlochry, Edradour traces its history to 1825, when it was founded as a cooperative of local farmers. Two centuries later, the distillery continues to embrace remarkably small scale and traditional production methods. Edradour describes itself as the last stronghold of handmade single malt whisky from a farm distillery still in production today.

Known affectionately as “Scotland’s Little Gem,” Edradour has built its reputation not through scale, but through character.

Its historic farm buildings, small traditional stills and deliberately hands on approach distinguish it in a Scotch whisky industry increasingly dominated by much larger operations. Under Andrew Symington, Edradour has continued this philosophy while developing an extensive collection of Highland single malts and experimenting with different styles of maturation and cask influence.

That combination of heritage, individuality and uncompromising production is precisely what attracted us to the brand.

From 1825 to 2025: Two Centuries of Edradour

The arrival of Edradour at Club Mareva Beirut is particularly meaningful following the distillery's 200th anniversary in 2025.

Our selection includes remarkable expressions that demonstrate just how serious Edradour can become with extended maturation.

Among the bottles photographed at Club Mareva Beirut is the Edradour 21 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2023.

This is a small batch release of only 1,919 bottles, bottled at a natural cask strength of 52.1% ABV and presented at natural colour. Its maturation combines refill ex Bourbon hogsheads with an Oloroso sherry cask finish, creating an expression in which mature Edradour spirit meets the richness of sherry seasoned oak.

But our Edradour collection goes considerably further.

Extraordinary Anniversary Bottlings

Club Mareva Beirut is also showcasing exceptionally mature Edradour releases created around the distillery's bicentenary, including the spectacular 30 Year Old and 35 Year Old Enigma I pictured here.

These are not everyday whiskies. They represent decades of maturation and a part of Edradour's history that can never simply be reproduced once those casks are gone.

The presentation itself reflects their significance. Beautiful wooden cases, individually presented bottles and, in the case of the 35 Year Old shown in our photographs, accompanying crystal glasses turn these whiskies into objects worthy of contemplation even before the bottle is opened.

Yet for us, whisky is ultimately meant to be experienced.

Why Edradour Belongs at Club Mareva Beirut

There is a natural connection between Edradour and the philosophy behind Club Mareva Beirut.

We have always believed that the most interesting spirits are those that retain a sense of place and personality. Production volume alone does not create greatness. Character does.

Edradour's survival for two centuries while maintaining remarkably traditional methods is therefore something we appreciate deeply. The distillery itself describes its philosophy as a triumph of traditional whisky craftsmanship over mass production.

It is also exactly the type of whisky that rewards conversation.

Older Edradour expressions can reveal layers gradually over the course of a glass. Sherry influence, mature oak, dried fruit, spice, sweetness and the weight of long maturation can evolve considerably with time and, in higher strength bottlings, with carefully judged additions of water.

These are whiskies to sit with rather than rush.
