GlenAllachie 1990 35 Years Old Now at Club Mareva Beirut

March 27, 2026

Club Mareva Beirut has secured a limited allocation of the GlenAllachie 1990 35 Years Old Cask Strength, distilled in 1990 and matured for 35 years.

Very few bottles have reached Lebanon.

This release is built on a precise cask structure:

Mizunara virgin oak, American virgin oak, Oloroso sherry, and Pedro Ximénez sherry.

The inclusion of Mizunara oak is the defining variable.

At this level of maturation, Mizunara is not a finish. It is integrated into the whisky’s identity. It introduces sandalwood, incense, resin, and an elevated aromatic profile that sits outside the traditional Speyside spectrum.

PX contributes weight and density. Oloroso defines structure and dryness. American oak supports with sweetness and balance.

After 35 years, this is no longer influence. It is transformation.

Also Held: The 35 Years Old 2024 Edition

We also continue to hold the GlenAllachie 35 Years Old 2024 Edition, drawn from 1989 stock.

Its composition is strictly classical:

Three Pedro Ximénez casks, one Oloroso cask, and two virgin oak casks.

No Mizunara.

This results in a different architecture. More grounded, more structured, and driven by traditional sherry maturation. PX builds richness, Oloroso brings dryness and spice, and virgin oak adds backbone.

Where the 1990 release expands outward, the 2024 Edition consolidates inward.

Two Interpretations of Long Aged Stock

These are not variations. They are deliberate outcomes of cask selection.

The 1990 release expresses complexity through diversity of oak, led by Mizunara.
The 2024 Edition expresses depth through controlled, classical maturation.

Understanding that distinction is what separates collecting from buying.

On Billy Walker

At this level, the whisky is secondary to the decisions behind it.

Billy Walker’s reputation is built on cask judgment over time. Not release schedules. Not volume.

These bottles exist because the casks reached a point where release made sense. Not before.

That is why they carry weight.

Why This Matters at Club Mareva Beirut

This is where most venues fall short.

Club Mareva Beirut is not simply offering bottles. It is building a whisky environment.

We actively run tastings, structured sessions, and comparative experiences designed for those who want to understand whisky, not just consume it. These are not casual pours. They are curated exposures to different cask profiles, age statements, and distillery philosophies.

Within that framework, The GlenAllachie holds a complete and consistent presence.

We carry a full range of GlenAllachie expressions, allowing vertical exploration from core releases to limited editions. That matters, because without context, even a 35 year old bottle is just an isolated experience.

With context, it becomes part of a broader narrative.

A Note from the Lounge

I had the opportunity to taste this release privately on the day of its launch, March 24.

The result was clear.

Exceptional, without qualification.

Positioning

This is not an impulse purchase.

This is for:

  • Collectors building serious portfolios

  • Buyers who understand the role of Mizunara in Scotch

  • Those tracking GlenAllachie under Billy Walker

Having access to both the 1990 release and the 2024 Edition, within a venue that actually understands and presents the range properly, is not common.

A very limited number of bottles are now available at Club Mareva Beirut.

If you understand what these represent, the decision is already made.
