On Thursday, September 17, Club Mareva Beirut welcomed whisky enthusiasts for an intimate tasting dedicated to The GlenAllachie, with a special appearance from the distillery’s peated expression, Meikle Tòir.
Presented by Jean Paul Abdallah, the evening offered guests the opportunity to explore four distinctive whiskies, each highlighting a different approach to maturation, wood influence and cask selection.
The tasting opened with The GlenAllachie 2015 Sinteis Series 10 Year Old, matured using a combination of Mongolian Virgin Oak, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks and bottled at 58.5%.
Guests then moved into the peated side of the distillery with Meikle Tòir 2018 Single Cask 8 Year Old, matured in an Oloroso hogshead and bottled at 59.9%. Only 348 bottles were produced from this cask.
The third whisky of the evening was The GlenAllachie 2015 Single Cask 11 Year Old, matured in a Pedro Ximénez hogshead and bottled at 61%, with an outturn of 358 bottles.
The tasting concluded with The GlenAllachie 2012 Single Cask 14 Year Old, matured in a Chinquapin Virgin Oak barrel, offering a final and very different expression of the distillery’s approach to wood and maturation.
Throughout the evening, Jean Paul guided guests through the character of each whisky, discussing the influence of cask type, maturation and production while allowing everyone to compare the expressions side by side.
The event reflected what we aim to create at Club Mareva Beirut: intimate experiences built around exceptional spirits, meaningful discussion and the opportunity to discover bottles that are rarely tasted together.
We thank everyone who joined us for another memorable evening at Club Mareva Beirut and look forward to welcoming our members and guests to the next experience.
